Apartment Hunting Tips #2

SOME APARTMENTS ARE CLOSED ON SUNDAYS – check their hours of operation on my apartment report

LOOK & LEASE OFFER – Save your favorite property for last – they may give you 24-48 hours to make your decision for discounts

DISCOUNT FOR PREFERRED EMPLOYERS – Ask if your employer is on their list – if they are you may receive an extra discount on your rent

LEASE TERM: Some apartments will offer you a shorter length of lease (9 months or less) with a potentially better rate. Many apartment communities are utilizing a computerized pricing system that will calculate the rent and length of lease to eliminate too many leases ending at the same time of the month.

A longer lease term (12+) LOCKS in the price for you which may help with your long-term budgeting and financial planning. If you sign a shorter term lease – be prepared for a potential increase in your rental rate at the end of your lease term.

A longer lease term (12+)is sometimes better!
