Texas Apartment Rental Application for Residents and Occupants – Understand what you are signing

Before you sit down with a leasing representative at an apartment community – become familiar with what you are filling out and signing. Most apartment communities in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area uses the standard Texas Apartment Association provided documents. Other communities have developed their own applications and rental contracts.

Once you complete the rental application and are “approved” to live at the community – you will be required to sign the “lease contract” before move-in. The apartment lease contract can be confusing and overwhelming when read the first time. Get to know the document BEFORE you sign.

Special note should be given to WHEN MOVING OUT section – page 7.
Many people do not follow this important section and may have “rental debt” show up on their credit reports because they do not follow this section in detail.
